It's a doll, it's for pins

I was trying to find more patterns for teacup and mug pincushions, because I know there are several variations. In my search I came upon the collector's type with the doll body atop the pin area. Some of these are quite lovely. Then I came across Mopsy, this bizarre vodoo-esque troll pincushion. Hmmm. Check out the fanny pack too. Whoa. With those around I think my imagination would travel back to when I was a little girl and had just seen one of the creepy dolls on Night Gallery. I started locking my dolls up in a cabinet at night after that. Dolls still creep me to this day.

Interesting article on what to fill a pincushion with.

I looked at Mopsy - I couldn't bear to stick the pins in!

Yikes! If I had one of those trolls around as a little girl I would have definitely developed some kind of complex. I already had nightmares about my stuffed toys coming to life as a kid. That and the creepy sad "wino" clown painting my parents put up in my bedroom made for uneasy sleep for years.

Regarding a previous post, my favorite cookbook is a vegetarian one. It has recipes for every kind of vege and they're all delicious. It has especially good recipes for desserty quickbreads. It always inspires me. I made a yummy coconut, pinapple, and sweet potato cake this weekend. Originally it called for coconut milk and shredded coconut, but I didnt' have either. (I never have the right ingredients.) I substituted pina colada mix and shredded up some sweet potato. Moist and yummy. I wonder what it was supposed to taste like originally. HMMMM.

I fill pin cushions with crushed walnut shells. You buy bags of the shells at the pet store...they are used in the bottom of bird cages. The walnut shells weight down the pin cushion and bug's will not eat them. Works real well. I make lots of pin cushions out of wool felt.
