Yesterday...

California November, and joyful pups played chase,
kicking up sand.
The ocean was dotted with riders--apostrophes hoping to complete a sentence.
My mind became a camera
capturing God's magic.
Poster-perfect silhouetted surfers
with crosswise boards;
orange ball backdrop.
Pelicans flew formations until
the sun slept and a chill descended,
leaving a brushstroke of reflected red.
Calmness and darkness sent us home;
our souls warmed.
