Vintage illustrations
I'm drawn to vintage coloring books for ideas--especially for quilt blocks.
I haven't made anything yet, but I'd like to one day.
At the Road to California Quilt Show earlier this year, one of the vendors had a quilt displayed in which each block represented a California Mission.
I think, if I remember correctly, the blocks were embroidered.
Anyway, the designs were from a coloring book.
This Hawaiian one is especially fun because it has an image of a Maypole.
Inside are children from various nations (Samoa, Japan, and The Mainland).
The illustrations are just fun to look at.
This book is not dated, but is probably late 50's.

I have a coloring book from grammar school - a few years later than this book, thankyouverymuch - about Catalina. So ironic that I've grown up to love that island so much.
Please protect and frame this pretty little wonder!
I collect old children's books, coloring books and text books. I love the illustrations, esp. the ones from the 40s and 50s.
Some of the illustrations in old children's books are just precious. I usually can't resist them at thrift stops.
That is so cool! I love the illustrations in vintage children's books too :)
