Crafting with spools

This is a fun project idea, using old wooden spools. You can still find spools at thrift stores, ebay, or with grandma's stuff. They made a cheese board here, but I'd probably add dowels to the bottom edge to hold thread or bobbins, and then make the top area into a pin cushion. It would be nice if the base were a lazy susan too. Food for thought anyway. This is from Workbasket Magazine, April 1964.
