Photobooth Friday
This smiling, pigtailed girl is from 1940's Germany.
The image is a found photo (well, I purchased it, but same difference, in that I don't know her history).
Something about her appeals to me--perhaps because I used to wear my hair that way in high school gymnastics competitions.

Barb, have you ever seen the movie "Amelie" with Audrey Tatou. She meets this guy who collects discarded Photobooth pics. It is hilarious (and also gave the world the Roaming Gnome).
My mom used to do my hair that way when I was a little girl too!
That looks like most any little girl from the fifties. Some had bangs with the look and some didn't. Not many Mamas even know how to plait hair anymore. The great thing anout plaited hair, is once you unplait, you have curls. : )
Yeah, I had that hair-do too in the first years at school (way back in the early 1970es).
I remember that we used to call it "Affenschaukel" in German (translated: monkey's swing). Hee, hee.
Love, Claudia
